GNSS RTK RECEIVERS

T40 vs T40Pro: choose how you measure

Choose T40 for a visualized laser point-measurement workflow, or T40Pro for image-based surveying. Both offer GNSS RTK, IMU tilt measurement, AR stakeout and two removable batteries that support hot-swapping.

THE PRACTICAL DIFFERENCES

Compare the field workflow

Consider T40 for visualized laser measurement

Start with T40 when your procedure calls for aiming at a visible target and measuring a point with a laser. Check the target surface, visibility, working distance and required accuracy before selecting this workflow.

Consider T40Pro for image-based surveying

Start with T40Pro when you want a photogrammetric workflow for extracting point coordinates from captured images. Confirm the image-capture procedure, compatible controller and field software for your project.

Laser module range, laser 3D measurement error, photogrammetric error and GNSS RTK accuracy describe different measurements. Keep the stated method and distance with each figure; they do not provide a direct accuracy ranking. The published operating time applies to controller network mode and depends on field conditions. Both weight figures exclude batteries. Confirm the quoted kit, software compatibility and destination-market configuration before ordering.

SELECTION QUESTIONS

T40 vs T40Pro FAQ

What is the main difference between T40 and T40Pro?

T40 focuses on visualized laser point measurement, while T40Pro focuses on photogrammetry and image-based surveying. Their linked datasheets list the same GNSS channel count, body dimensions, weight without batteries and dual removable-battery arrangement.

Does T40Pro automatically provide more accurate RTK positioning?

The linked datasheets give the same GNSS RTK RMS figures for both: horizontal ±(8 mm + 1 ppm) and vertical ±(15 mm + 1 ppm). The key selection difference is the extra measurement workflow. Laser and image-survey accuracy statements apply to different methods and distances.

Does the 30 m T40 laser range mean 2.5 cm 3D error at 30 m?

No. The 30 m figure is the laser module range; the separate 3D error statement of no more than 2.5 cm applies within 5 m. Review the target and site conditions against the appropriate specification.

Do both models support hot-swappable batteries?

Yes. Both datasheets describe two removable 7.2 V, 3400 mAh batteries and support for hot-swapping. Include the charging cradle and any spare batteries in the equipment plan, and follow the model-specific operating instructions.

Do both models support tilt measurement and AR stakeout?

Yes. Both datasheets list IMU tilt measurement and AR stakeout. Confirm the controller, software version, enabled functions and project coordinate setup in the proposed field kit.

What should I include when requesting a T40 or T40Pro kit?

Send your country, task, typical point conditions, required measurement method and correction source. Include the receiver quantity and any controller, field software, base receiver or radio you already use, so the complete configuration can be checked.
