GNSS RTK RECEIVERS

T5 vs T5Lite: choose the correction connection

T5 and T5Lite share the published GNSS RTK accuracy, battery capacity and IP65 rating. Start with the correction connection: T5 explicitly lists a receive-only UHF radio, while T5Lite’s datasheet lists network connectivity without an internal UHF radio specification.

THE PRACTICAL DIFFERENCES

Compare the field workflow

Consider T5 when UHF reception is required

The T5 datasheet lists a receive-only 410–470 MHz radio. Review it for receiving corrections from a compatible radio source, with the frequency and protocol confirmed for your site.

Consider T5Lite for a confirmed network workflow

T5Lite lists cellular connectivity in a 600 g body. Confirm the correction service, local mobile bands, controller and supported software before selecting a network-based rover configuration.

The absence of an internal UHF specification in the T5Lite datasheet is not a compatibility confirmation for any external radio or controller. Ask TOKNAV to confirm the exact supplied correction workflow. T5’s receive-only radio should not be treated as an internal base transmitter. Runtime and radio performance depend on operating conditions.

SELECTION QUESTIONS

T5 vs T5Lite FAQ

What is the most useful difference to check first?

Check how you will receive corrections. T5 explicitly lists an internal receive-only UHF radio. T5Lite lists cellular connectivity but does not list an internal UHF radio specification in the linked datasheet.

Can T5 transmit base corrections through its internal radio?

The datasheet labels that radio as receive-only. Do not assume it can transmit base corrections; request a separately confirmed base or external-radio configuration if your project needs one.

Is T5Lite less accurate because it is lighter?

The linked datasheets list the same GNSS RTK RMS accuracy and IMU tilt specification for both receivers. The published weight difference is 30 g, with T5Lite also 3 mm shorter in height.

Can I use T5Lite with a CORS service?

Confirm the service coverage, account, mobile bands, correction formats and compatible controller or software with TOKNAV. The datasheet’s network listing alone does not verify every regional CORS service or software combination.

Do they have different batteries or protection ratings?

Both datasheets list a 3.7 V, 9600 mAh battery and IP65 protection, with the same stated operating times for the listed modes. Check charging accessories and the complete field configuration in the quotation.

What should I provide for a compact rover enquiry?

Send your country, preferred correction source, available mobile coverage, survey task and existing controller or software. Mention whether receiving corrections over UHF is a requirement.
